Yusril Yusuf awarded 2006 Glenn H. Brown Prize

The Honors and Awards Committee of the International Liquid Crystal Society (ILCS) has unanimously selected Dr. Yusril Yusuf 2005 dissertation, Swelling Dynamics and Electromechanical Effects of Liquid Crystal Elastomers as Artificial Muscles, for the 2006 Glenn H. Brown Prize. His dissertation, derived from his research at Kyushu University, Japan (supervisor: Professor Shoichi Kai), was selected for his “novel research on swelling dynamics of liquid crystalline elastomers resulting in the first demonstration of their application as low voltage artificial muscle”.

G. H. Brown Prize was presented to Yusril at the 21st International Liquid Crystal Conference held in July 2-7, 2006 in Keystone, Colorado USA. During the conference Yusril gave a lecture about his research.
